USP LEM & HK45 Trigger Pull Weights Quick Guide: Use the trigger return spring that may be in any newer production HK pistol or HK part # 209266 (black colored, thinner trigger return spring) for light LEM trigger pull, approximately 4-5 lbs. Use the square spring-shaped trigger return spring in the kit for the heavier LEM trigger pull, approximately 7-8 lbs. Developed especially for a U.S. government agency, the Law Enforcement Modification (or LEM for short), is a unique trigger mechanism created specifically to improve the trigger performance and reduce the weight of the Double-Action Only (DAO) trigger pull in the P2000SK, P2000, USP, USP Compact, HK 45, and HK 45 Compact pistols. With this mechanism, HK pistols can be fired like a standard DAO semi-automatic pistol, where every round is fired by simply pulling the trigger fully rearward with the hammer starting at the forward rest position. The design of the propriety HK LEM system allows the weight of the DAO trigger pull to be reduced to a smooth and constant 7.5 - 8.5 pounds because the two-part hammer is pre-cocked every time the slide moves rearward. Or a smooth 4.5- 5.5 pounds if the operator opts for the lighter trigger pull configuration.

Bought a V1 DA/SA HK45C, after 100 rounds I cleaned the gun and the trigger started not resetting fully. Shortly after the safety started binding up. I bought this LEM kit and converted the gun to the light LEM with the heavy trigger return spring and no external safety. Fixed the issue of trigger reset failure by grinding and polishing a burr off of the hammer bar. Everything needed to convert my HK45C was in this kit. Now another 150 rounds through my HK45C and no complaints. I come from shooting factory non-modified glocks in competition, the LEM trigger makes the HK45C much more comfortable and at home feeling in my hands. Conversion kit was simple to install thanks to YouTube videos.

After shooting a light LEM P30L, I decided to convert my USP Expert to LEM. I was already familiar with normal disassembly of the USP with a safety, but I had not previously removed and reinstalled the trigger return spring. I was able to find a couple of online videos that made some helpful suggestions on assembly. I ended up modifying an old pair of needle nosed pliers to securely hold the trigger return spring because I didn't want to chase it around the shop :). I worked great. After that, reassembly was fast. I really like the new trigger system. I think it works better than a striker fired trigger with the added benefit of a hammer. Plus, it gets the safety/ decocker levers out of the way so they can no longer bang into my thumb knuckle when I shoot the pistol.

These triggers must be great because the last restock was sold out well within four hours. I have two HK45 that sit in a safe because I?m not going to use the DA/SA trigger in them now. They remain expensive yet boring sidearms that become less appealing with each with every increase in the price of ammunition. It?s really too bad because HK are excellent firearms. It?s just as natural that an HK isn?t in my top five next firearms to acquire. Those positions are held by innovators who have shipping product available. That said, I would still buy a VP9 because HK are excellent firearms. It will probably never happen because ammunition and other accessories (holsters, armor, et cetera will continue to push HK down the list of to-dos. I hope someone who reads this gets a better understanding of the importance of product availability and excellence. ?and before you conclude this is strictly anti-HK, I don?t care what industry this woukd benefit.

I own a HK45 (DA/SA, decocker, safety) and a few months ago I purchased an ambidextrous selector lever for it through HK Parts and it turned out perfect. Always looking to upgrade I read up and tried someones HK with the LEM trigger and immediately knew that would be a significant upgrade that would be perfect for me. Again, I turned to HK Parts and purchased the LEM trigger kit and I couldn't be more happy.

I ordered this convert my HK45c V1 to the light LEM. After reading opinions on it for years and never being able to find any HK pistol at a local shop that had an LEM trigger I figured I would just bite the bullet and convert my pistol and see if I liked it or not. The kit contains everything you need to convert your pistol. It was a very easy process since I was doing the light LEM and did not need to change any springs beyond the hammer spring. If you are thinking about going over to the LEM trigger, this will get you there without a problem.
