Extended cocking handle on PTR91
Installation on my PTR-91 was rough. The pin that you have to remove to take out the original cocking handle felt like it was put in by a hydraulic press. I had to wedge a piece of cardboard into the cocking tube to keep the pin at the correct angle to be driven out, while the whole gun was propped on a sandbag so I could tap my punches at the right angle. I did end up flattening the ends of my punches a bit on the hard metal of the cocking parts. I had heard conflicting information on which direction the pin had to be removed from. The PTR pin has little grooves on it to keep it in place. They only run half the length of the pin. I think the pin was the same diameter all around so technically could be pushed either direction, but it's a lot easier to push it "down" and out through the hole that's partially covered by the handguard. Trying to push it "up" from that hole and through the hole that's always exposed may have just made it harder for me to get out. Once I got the pin out I didn't have much trouble installing the new cocking handle. The spring in there is a little fiddly but I probably got it in in under 5 minutes with no special tools, jigs, or effort. Felt easy after getting that pin out. As for the performance of the new handle, it definitely is an improvement. Not a massive improvement in my opinion, but the stock handle could use all the improvements it can get.

Much better grip and not too difficult to install but on my PTR91 with a wide forearm I may have to cut/shave the rubber on lower side to fit or it hits the forearm and wont lock down. Its also a lot harder to cam this one out than the original.

Hard plastic and metal upgrade. Way better than the original and not much bigger. The original cocking handle is covered in rubber and is hard to grasp with a well lubed firearm. Easy to install with these instructions: https://www.hkpro.com/threads/charging-handle-spring-and-support-installation.152808/. Only complaint is that there was some rust on the extended cocking handle from previous contact with a spring, nothing to major but wasn?t brand new. Four Stars

I bought this to replace the frankly inadequate charging handle that came on my PTR-91FR/102. When I got the gun, I genuinely thought there might be something wrong with the cocking tube gap, because un"locking" the rollers and charging the rifle took the might of Thor to do every single time. Measured everything with feeler gauges, and it was all in spec. Tried the Dime Test, no improvement. Eventually I bit the bullet and bought this extended charging handle, and I was absolutely shocked the difference it made. I really don't know why these guns don't come with these from the factory. People are already spending $1,000+ on them, and I think almost all of them would gladly pay an additional $45 for one of these.

Definitely a major improvement, especially during the break-in period. Watch out with Cetme C handguards, as there may be some rubbing where you have to choose which one to shave material off of. (I have a PTR 91 with a modified CETME wooden handguard, and decided to scrape out from it to fit the handle).

Yeah you'll need a 3rd arm to get this thing installed but once it's done you've got MUCH more meat on that charging handle to grab onto. You get more leverage, feels better in the hand, easier to slap, whats not to like?
